Crias of 2007
March
27, 2007: First cria of the year! Snowflake and Riddick have teamed
up again to give us another winner (his full sister, Vicky, placed 3rd at
the 2006 Futurity, the most prestigious alpaca show in the USA). This
little guy has great bone and is full of energy and mischief. Beautiful
fleece too! We named him Breckenridge.
June 6, 2007: Shannon gave birth to a white El Senor
boy. We named him Tundra because he was born on the day we got our new
Toyota Tundra truck (which we love). His dam is dark fawn and he is
all white with soft, crimpy fiber. Another El Senor winner!
June
7, 2007: Delight, who is owned by the Crawfords, gave birth to a pretty white
girl. She is sired by our full Accoyo stud, Prince, and she has VERY soft
fleece. Can't wait to see the micron on this one! She is a
very feminine looking girl, but can really fight with all the boy crias!
June
15, 2007: Buttercup gave birth to a dark fawn El Senor son, Duncan.
His fleece is REALLY bright and very crimpy. He is a real spitfire and we
had to move him to a different field because he kept mounting all the female
crias. His dam is now owned by the Morrows, but Duncan and his
mother are staying here for awhile.
July
2, 2007: Cool Night, a black suri owned by the Arons, gave birth to a
black girl sired by the Aron's grey stud, El Nino. She is a real
sweetie. Blacks are very hard to photograph so this picture doesn't do her
justice.
July
31, 2007: Emma gave birth to a 23.5 pound Riddick daughter. Biggest cria
we have ever had! It was a 365 day pregnancy. Poor 155 pound
Emma! We have high hopes for this girl - her full sister, Mimi, was the
Fawn Color Champion at the 2007 North American Show. This girl looks like
Mimi's twin except for a splash of white on her head. We have named her
Emily, after Emily Groupp who has worked for us for 4 years and is leaving soon
for a year in Africa at a Harvard/Oxford program. She then continue at
Harvard next year. We'll all miss her!
August
1, 2007: Haley gave birth to a white El Senor daughter. This is the last
of our El Senor births since we sold him last year and he moved to Canada.
Nice way to end our line of El Senor crias with a beautiful white girl! We
named her Elsie.
August
12, 2007: Busy morning! Three babies - two here and one at our
friends, the Mahoneys, 15 minutes from here. I went down to the barn
in the morning and saw a head and one leg coming out of Lucy. The other
leg was folded under the cria's body so I helped a little bit to get the cria
out. A really cute El Senor white boy (at left) with loads of crimp!
Lucy is now owned by the Phelps. While I was helping Lucy, the Mahoney's
called to say a girl we sold them, Nola, was in labor. I rushed over
there and found Nola with her beautiful fawn El Senor boy. Rushed back
home to find that Lucy's mother, Miranda, had given birth in my absence to a
white boy! There was a bit of confusion in the fields with 2 new white
boys and determining who belonged to whom, but everything got straightened out
and both boys are doing great - both had great IgGs.

August 12, 2007: Miranda & her Prince son.
Strong, healthy boy. 3/4 Accoyo.
September
13, 2007: Lluvia had a beige Riddick boy. Mom and cria are proudly owned
by Morgen Bowers!
September
15, 2007: Monarch had a Prince daughter. Love this picture of her
napping!
September
16, 2007: Denise had her first cria, a Riddick girl. My neighbor,
Catherine Lebow, sat with me in the field for a couple of hours watching the
birth. Catherine suggested a few names and we decide on Tallulah for this
one because she looks like she is going to be a star!
September
24, 2007: Ava has her first cria - sired by Rincon, a Danko
grandson. Very strong and vigorous boy. Very pretty fleece color.
